Hello! I am a Mental Health advocate and content creator producing Motherhood, Womanhood, and Lifestyle content. I encourage women to be their most authentic selves.
After graduating college, I worked in administration for businesses such as Price Waterhouse Coopers, MasterCard, Newman’s Own, and Deloitte. However, I’ve always been creative, so I decided to channel my creativity into creating this blog. Why? Because in 2016, after experiencing the loss of my grandfather passing and operating in high-pressure conditions, I noticed my already present mental health struggles began to increase. Encouraged by those closest to me, I sought out professional help. I became a Mental Health Advocate and decided to make a career change after experiencing the transformative effects of therapy. Understanding the importance of education, I returned to school to pursue my MSW. I officially graduated from Sacred Heart University recently.
My mission is to de-stigmatize mental health for all. So, do not sit there and suffer in silence. I did it too long, so let me help you – seek help, find a therapist, and learn the word NO is a whole and complete sentence. Learn it. Use it. Mean it.
If you’re authentic, this is a match made in Heaven! Continue reading below to learn more about me and my story below.
My Story
Do you really want to know? Well, if you’ve read this far, apparently you do! I hope you’re sitting down; this may take a while.
I was born to a drug-addicted mother and never met my father. If it weren’t for the Lord’s covering and my grandparents taking me in, I would not be the person I am today. I suffered many traumas throughout my childhood and early adulthood years. Such as being abused mentally, sexually, and physically by various family members and supposed to be “responsible adults.” I survived an abusive relationship with a much older boyfriend during my teenage years. And lastly, when I came home pregnant at the end of my sophomore year, my then-boyfriend broke up with me*.
I’m sure you can imagine the mistrust, sleepless nights, and low self-esteem I battled through. I’m not sure anyone understands the full extent of all that I’ve gone through. Especially not my late grandparents. Yet, because of their endless love and my relationship with the Lord, everything has worked together for my good. This is why I believe every child is one prayer and caring adult away from succeeding in life. So if you’re reading this post and in the middle of dealing with a seemingly young person, take my word – don’t give up on them!
To some, my past might seem like a tragedy. I’d like to think that everything I’ve gone through was divinely orchestrated for a greater purpose. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you…” (GNT) The experiences I’ve gone through birthed courage, persistence, and a fight in me to become the women you are meeting today. I am an imperfect person owning her story to encourage other imperfect people not to give up. And, if I am still standing, I am confident you can do the same.
That might sound very cliché, and some of you might not be able to relate to the distress I’ve gone through. But, honey, no worries, what I’ve mentioned above was only the tip of the iceberg. My struggles with mental illness, health and wellness, finances, marriage, and faith have yet to be mentioned. My metamorphosis began when I started seeing a therapist and decided to live genuinely.
This blog is the culmination of my healing. Join me as I share the highs and lows of life. Please ensure your wig is appropriately secured (if you’re wearing one). I make no apologies for being me! My life is far from perfect; that’s not the picture I want to portray. Instead, I would like to show you the positive results of what happens when a woman owns her life stories, stops caring what others think, and begins to live authentically.
